broken ties

it’s so sad how
we go through phases
with people.

you really bond with them
on this special level
that belongs to the two of you.
you get to know each other
because your schedules
conveniently allowed you to
spend so much time together.

the moment your schedules change
so does your friendship
and now when you see each other
it’s like you never had anything special.

it’s one of the saddest feelings I’ve known.

and then I read this quote:

“there comes a point your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won’t anymore, and who always will. So don’t worry about people from your past, there’s a reason they didn’t make it to your future.”
